Footcandle

is the unit of illuminance in the English sytem, abbreviated as fc, equal to 1 lumen per square foot (about 10 lux).

Illuminance

is light incident onto a surface, measured in lumens per unit area: footcandles (fc) or lux (lx).

Lumen

is the unit of luminous flux in both the the English and Metric sytems, abbreviated as lm.

Lux

is the unit of illuminance in the Metric sytem, abbreviated as lx, equal to 1 lumen per square meter (about 0.1 footcandles).
